Living in England means we’re no stranger to experiencing the four seasons in a day. Well, at Enlightenment you can journey through a crystalline winter, fiery autumn, vibrant spring and fresh, emerald summer in only half an hour; no waterproofs or suncream required. This kaleidoscopic Vivaldi light show has already enchanted the likes of Germany, Switzerland, France and Glasgow, now Leeds will get to experience its audiovisual wonders. Coming to Leeds City Museum on Thursday, July 3, the experience combines 360-degree projections, iconic music and striking architecture with mesmerising results.
What can you expect at the ‘Enlightenment’ light show?
Like stepping into a dreamworld, Enlightenment wraps you in a cocoon of colour and melody. The Victorian architecture of Leeds City Museum has undergone comprehensive video mapping which measures the interior structures to ensure the projections fit perfectly. As a result, the historic building will be transformed with an immersive show that brings to life the unique beauty of each of the four seasons. You can sit back and relax as cascades of leaves tumble from the ceilings, psychedelic florals blossom on the walls and forks of lightening pierce every corner.
These spectacular visuals will, of course, be accompanied by Antonio Vivaldi’s iconic violin concerto which has captured the essence of spring, winter, autumn and summer with powerful Baroque compositions. You’ll be able to feel the hazy warmth of summer through languid rhythms and chirping birdsong, before shivering with the frosty winds of winter, expressed via rushing violins.
Enlightenment is the perfect way to unwind and soak up some hypnotic visuals. Whether you’ve had a long day at work, are looking for an romantic evening out with your loved one or simply want to lose yourself in the magical melodies of Vivaldi you are sure to be enchanted at this popular light and sound show.
